Vintage on the Vine X FARLY

Vintage on the Vine has created an exclusive FARLY edit of antiques around the theme of 'Picnic in the Vineyard'

This week, our spotlight is on ‘Vintage on the Vine’, an antique and decorative interiors business located at Northbrook Vineyard in Bishops Waltham, near Winchester, Hampshire. They have curated an exclusive edit for FARLY featuring unique treasures that perfectly capture the spirit of an idyllic vineyard picnic.

Founded by the delightful Honor Tuttiett, ‘Vintage on the Vine’ reflects her passion for well-crafted, vintage treasures. Specialising in European furniture, aged painted pieces with rich patina, and unique items with intriguing histories, Honor’s journey into the world of antiques began at just 14. She started as an eBay enthusiast, buying and selling vintage clothing. After university, she moved into television, working on antiques programmes where she rekindled her love for antiques and realised it could be a career.

Over time, Honor honed her skills, gradually turning her hobby into a full-time business. Eight years ago, she launched ‘Vintage on the Vine’. For years, she and her dog travelled across France in a van, sourcing items, filling the van, and bringing everything back to sort and photograph. Honor started selling antiques in 2015 out of a garden shed; and just a year later, she moved to a larger space at the family-run Northbrook Vineyard, where she christened her new showroom ‘Vintage on the Vine.’

A couple of weeks ago, I made the scenic journey to Northbrook Vineyard to meet Honor and take a look at the FARLY edit. Positioned on the edge of the vineyard, the ‘Vintage on the Vine’ showroom overlooks the picturesque green landscape, where I could see a charming little red tractor making its way up and down the lush, green rows of vines in the distance. The weather was perfect, and Honor greeted me warmly, guiding me through her beautifully curated showroom and took me for a picnic in the vineyard.

The exclusive FARLY edit centres around the theme 'Picnic in the Vineyard,' showcasing an array of treasures including Mid-Century Floral Oil Paintings, Italian Toleware, French 19th Century Earthenware Confit Pots, and a pair of Wrought Iron Garden Armchairs, among others. Hugely passionate about her job, Honor shared her extensive knowledge of the origins and stories behind each piece she carefully curated for the collection.

Some of our favourites include:

French 19th Century Earthenware Confit Pot Foursome

In a rare quadruple offering, these 19th-century French confit pots are glazed in a beautiful ochre yellow. Evoking the sunshine of the south of France, these pots would have been used to preserve various confits, ready for cooking in their day.

Vintage French Wrought Iron Garden Armchairs

With their charmingly worn paint and romantic aesthetic, these sturdy armchairs offer a perfect spot to sit and relax in the garden.

Mid-Century Framed Floral Oil Painting by French Artist Lancelle

A delightful mid-century still life oil painting by French artist Lancelle, this piece is one of two acquired for the edit that complement each other perfectly. The Impressionist-style painting is simply joyful, characterised by its bold naivety and vibrant use of colour.

French 1880 Hand-Painted Leather Four-Screen Room Divider

A beautifully hand-painted original French leather room divider, this piece exudes the charming character of late 19th-century France. The floral designs are rendered in lovely pastel boudoir colours, adding a touch of elegance and nostalgia.

Vintage French Hand-Painted Collery Advertising Sign

A wonderfully large vintage hand-painted wine advertising sign from the Collery vineyard. This wooden sign was used to promote their vintage bottles and is perfect as a standalone decorative piece or ready to hang.

If you are interested in learning more about the vineyard, Northbrook celebrates the restoration of nature and reconnection with the land. The vineyard is home to what are thought to be some of the oldest surviving Bacchus vines in England, planted in 1988. These original grapes still produce our outstanding Bacchus wine today. This is now supplemented with around 20 acres of vines planted in 2017 and 2020, featuring Champagne varieties such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. They will be selling a vintage classic cuvée, sparkling rosé, and a still Bacchus white wine.

Opening end of September 2024. You can learn more about the vineyard here.
