Some artists train for years. Others spend a lifetime searching for their style. And then there’s Steve Camps, who stumbled into art by accident. There’s something almost mythical about the way Steve Camps found his calling. A retired builder from Newquay, Cornwall, Steve never intended to become an artist. In fact, he still sounds slightly surprised when he calls himself one.
“Apparently, I’m an artist,” he says with a chuckle.
Before picking up a paintbrush, the closest he came to art was collecting old paintings at auctions and antique frames. But fate—or perhaps the whales—had other plans.
