Scene By Chloe X FARLY

Under the Sea and Above the Clouds

This week, our spotlight series highlights Scene By Chloe, an online eclectic antiques emporium founded by Chloe McDonald. Chloe left her job as a luxury fashion buyer to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an antiques dealer. Like many, I discovered Chloe's Instagram (@scenebychloe) and instantly fell in love. She has a wonderful eye for unique design objects and curates pieces beautifully. After seeing many snippets online, I was really excited to visit Chloe’s showroom in Crystal Palace, South East London, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! The showroom, which has been the emporium’s base since 2021, is open to the public by appointment only. It is adorned with an array of incredible objects and furniture that Chloe has sourced from all over Europe.

Chloe's joyful FARLY edit is cleverly titled “Under the Sea and Above the Clouds,” with pieces divided into either category. Highlights of the collection fitting into the nautical category include the ‘Barnacle Vase,’ made with real barnacles found on ships during dry dock in Indonesia and applied to the clay base by hand, making each piece unique. The vase has a wonderful unpolished look and texture, which contrasts beautifully with flowers.

Another standout sea-themed piece is the encrusted handmade ‘Shell Mirror’. Featuring a warm palette, it showcases an assortment of shell specimens, ideal for a seaside property or bathroom.

From the ‘Above the Clouds’ side of the collection, highlights include the wonderful wooden moon lamp that Chloe fondly shares she purchased in the north of France during a buying trip. The lamp is almost childlike and would make the perfect addition to any side or bedside table.

Continuing with the moon theme, another standout piece is the antique brass 'Clown and Moon Mirror.' The mirror, adorned with Pierrot clowns and a moon encircling the double-sided surface, reminds me of something I would have discovered on my grandmother’s dressing table!

We hope you enjoy the video and love the collection!
