There are few places in England that make a long weekend feel like a proper holiday. Cornwall is one of them. With its wild coastline and windswept beauty, even a few days have a way of slowing you down.

We travelled to Trevear Farm, a beautiful family-run retreat tucked between Padstow and Rock, to reunite with one of my dearest friends after three years living in America Kelly Vittengl.

Our girls’ weekends have been a tradition for almost a decade. This year looked rather different. Between childcare, pregnancy and coordinating everyone’s schedules, simply getting us all there felt like an achievement.

Yet amidst the chaos came moments that made it all worthwhile. Saturday evening was one of them, when, babies and all, we gathered for the Baby Bay Beach Club pop-up: a spectacular long-table dinner set on the sands of Polzeath as the sun slowly slipped below the horizon.

Somerset

To break up the journey, we spent a night at The Talbot Inn in Somerset, one of those idyllic country pubs you instantly wish was your local. Over a delicious roast chicken dinner, we were joined by Rachel Ashwell @shabbychic , the visionary founder of Shabby Chic.
